Hi everyone, Dan Hunjas here from Edge Marketing, an innovative Australian digital marketing agency.

If you're a restaurant, club, pub or cafe, I've got some important information to share with you.

This latest government announcement to shut you guys down is tough, no doubt about it.

However, whilst you have no control over the cards you've been dealt, you certainly have control over how you play them.

A lot of businesses are simply going to close down while others will survive and a percentage of you will actually do well by innovating and taking advantage of the opportunity right now that could potentially set you up for long term success.

Now, whilst most businesses that have a kitchen facility will simply sidestep into the obvious being takeaway and home delivery.

I want you to think more outside of the box in terms of how you can take the dining experience that you've always offered to your guests, the reason why they dine with you in the first place and package this into something that can be delivered directly into people's homes.

I want you to get thinking about simple things such as date night.

You can put together a simple upsell meal ‘Date Night’ package that also includes a rose and a candle.

Get thinking about special occasions such as anniversaries and birthday packages and include things like cakes.

Did you know that you can actually target people with an upcoming birthday through Facebook advertising?

You may even want to run some kind of online cooking classes through Facebook Live, where you sell your pre-packed ingredients the day before so people can cook along and interact with you and the chef.

Not only providing a food service but you're also providing a lot of entertainment value that you can deliver directly into someone's home where people are in isolation and are looking for some kind of alternative entertainment other than, say Netflix and board games.

Now we've got one of the biggest days on the hospitality calendar coming up being Easter and then Mother's Day, get planning for this now.

Get thinking about how you can package and deliver these days and these experiences, directly in the people's homes.

Think about school lunches.

Can you offer a package that may include, say a week's worth of lunches for pickup and delivery?

And for everyday convenience, do you have the carpark space to setup a makeshift drive-through so you can take orders from the carpark.

And can you redeploy say some of your valuable front of line team that you want to keep, and place them into, say a home delivery service.

You see, if you get thinking outside of the box now, you can potentially do very well out of this situation.

Now what we're faced with, is a business version of `Darwin's theory of evolution, which basically states that only the strongest will survive by adapting to the current environment.

So now is the time to innovate to survive in the short term, in order to thrive in the long term.

Now, this video applies to anyone and everyone in the hospitality industry that's been affected.
